Mt Pulaski- Charles William Cummings, 91, passed away at 3:13 A.M. on December 9, 2013 at The Christian Village in Lincoln.
Charles was born on April 22, 1922 in Winchester, IL; son of Clayton and Minnie Underwood Cummings. He married Dolores Beidler-Ayers on November 1, 1974 in Lincoln, IL, she survives him in Lincoln. Charles was in the United States Marine Corps for four years and three months and in the United States Air Force for nine and a half years. He was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, USS Mustin D-413 and Hornet CV-8 Association. He was a survivor of the sinking of the Aircraft Carrier Hornet during WWII as well as the attack on Pearl Harbor. He retired as an airline pilot and flight engineer for Eastern Airlines. Mt Pulaski- Donald Louis Dumire, 65, passed away at 2:15 A.M. on December 8, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Donald was born on December 8, 1948 in Pierce, WV; son of Gilbert and Myrtle Runion Dumire.
He is survived by one son: Gilbert (Alexis) Dumire of Lincoln; one step-son: Jason (Brittany) Varner of Lincoln; two brothers: Charlie (Wanda) Dumire of Mt Pulaski and Russell (Cathy) Varner of Springfield; three sisters: Katherine Roher of Springfield, Betty (Jeff) Dempsey of Mt Pulaski, and Pauletta (Steve) Hamm of WV; one grandchild: Keegan. Lincoln- Ronald Lewis Jones, age 73, of Lincoln, IL. died at 3:36 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at The Christian Village, Lincoln, IL.
Ronnie was born August 22, 1940 in Lincoln, IL., the son of Melvin Lewis and Mary Catherine Molloy Jones. He was united in marriage to Kay Lyn Schrader on March 8, 1958 in Clinton, IL. and she survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Renee Jones of Lincoln, IL., and four sons, Rod (Mary) Jones of Williamsville, IL., Randy Jones of Lincoln, IL., Robbie (Gretchen) Jones and Richie (Jani) Jones both of Lincoln, IL. and 10 grandchildren, Rachel, Nick, Chelsea, Taly, Austin, Gabby, Riley, Emma, Elaina, and Kaeli. Lincoln- Pat Osborn, 73, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2:46 a.m. at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with Mr. Don Hoover offiating.

Mildred V. (Sieh) Briggs Newberry, 93, of Emden passed away at 7:20 a.m., November 29, 2013 at the Christian Village Nursing Home, Lincoln, IL. A graveside service will be held at the Hartsburg Union Cemetery on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Holland Barry and Bennett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by two sons, Bill (Norma) Briggs of Emden and Gary (Beverly) Briggs of Estes Park, Colorado, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren.

Ruth E. Quisenberry age 89 died Monday December 2, 2013 at Waterford at Oakwood Assisted Living in Oakwood GA.
She was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Lincoln Il. The daughter of Carl Albert and Lena (Beherends) Wrage. She was a life long educator. She started in a one room country school in rural Logan county, retired after 20 years of teaching at Heyworth, IL and ended her career as a assistant professor at Bradley University where she had started her higher education. She was a proud graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School and had undergraduate and Masters degrees from Illinois State University. (Click for more)

Dorothy was born on February 10, 1922 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of John and Theresa Schmidt Miesner.

Chestnut: Ida Jean Howe, 86, of Chestnut, IL passed away at 6:43 P.M. on November 30, 2013 at Leroy Manor in Leroy, IL.
Ida was born on October 29, 1927 in Bluffton, Indiana to Lewis and Fern May Phipps. She married Howard R. Mann. She later married Rodney Nimrick. He preceded her in death. She then married Bill Howe of Chestnut. He also preceded her in death. She was the owner of the Alpha restaurant in Alpha, IL, and was a key punch operator for State Farm Insurance.
Ida is survived by two daughters, Kathy (Terry) Sachan of Savoy, IL and Tami Mann of Bloomington, IL, one sister Linda (Kenneth) Bowman of Downs, IL, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, one daughter Sandy Mann, two sons, Martin Mann and Chip Nimrick, one sister and one brother. (Click for more)

Carole was born on May 11, 1934 in Decatur, IL. She married Earl Davis on May 14, 1954 in Elkhart, IL; he survives in Williamsville, IL.

Tom was born on January 10, 1945 in Lincoln, son of Courtland and Rosemary Sheley Leith. He was united in marriage to Myrna Hobbs on August 31, 1975 in Funks Grove, IL. She survives in Lincoln. Other survivors include his son: Thomas Eric (Kathlene) Leith of Blue Springs, MO with grandchildren Noah and Henry; daughter: Stacey (Michael) Kabiri of Hilton Head, SC with grandchildren Nicholas and Kelsey; step-sons: Toby (Diane) Pleasant of Decatur, IL with grandchildren Abby Sprague, Blake Pleasant, Dayne Pleasant, and Terra Rasmussen; Timothy (Kelly) Pleasant of Bradenton, FL with grandchildren Karlie Esler, Darcie Pleasant, and Tad Pleasant; Sisters: Darlene Guy of Lincoln, Roseanne Jackson of Tampa, FL; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mt Pulaski- Mary Frances Sutton, 91, of Mt Pulaski, formerly of Lake Fork, passed away at 5:32 P.M. on Friday November 15, 2013 in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Mary Frances was born on March 27, 1922 in Lake Fork, IL, daughter of Harley Saul and Mary Ellen Malone Coats. She married William Leon Sutton in 1944 in Springfield, IL; he preceded her in death on December 20, 1989. She was a member of Lake Fork Christian Church for 62 years, Mt Pulaski Women’s Club, and Christian Nursing Home Auxiliary. She was a much loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Normal- Ferd B. Decker, 74, of Normal formerly of Atlanta passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Advocated BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Decker will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Quiram Peasley Funeral Home with Mr. Norman Decker and Mr. Bill Decker officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date in the Atlanta Cemetery.
Ferd Brady Decker was born on May 16, 1939 in Ravenden Springs, Arkansas the son of Quint and Florence Shelton Decker. He married Dixie Benedict on October 11, 1957 in Holly Springs, Mississippi.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Dixie, daughters: Janet (Darrell) Crutchley of Atlanta, Angela (Darrell) Beehn of Shirley, Dawn (Jeff) Hayashida of Pueblo West, Co., One brother: Norman (Nova) Decker of Arkansas, Mary Jo Ryman of Wisconsin. Eight grandchildren, Six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son: Steven Wayne Decker, one brother: Bobby Decker.
Ferd was an owner / operator over the road truck driver for over 40 years. He drove more than a million miles accident free.
He was an avid Cardinals fan.
Ferd was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He enjoyed the simple things in life like spending time with his family and friends, camping and rving.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him

CHESTNUT-Carol Jean Hembreiker Leimbach, 74, of Chestnut, IL passed away at 11:05 am November 21, 2013 at Christian Village, Lincoln, IL.
Carol was born on December 24, 1938 in Lincoln, IL the daughter of Everett and Mildred Sparks Hembreiker. She married Darrell E. Leimbach May 4, 1957 in Lincoln, IL. He preceded her in death July 5, 2012.
Carol is survived by one daughter: Valerie (George) Davis of Lincoln; two grandchildren: Jason Lee of Lincoln and Ashley Lee of Noblesville, IN; two great grandchildren: Mason Lee and Cayden Cruz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son: Gregory. (Click for more)
Lincoln- LaVara Elizabeth Leonard Moore, 104, passed away at 8:05 A.M. on Sunday November 17, 2013 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.
LaVara was born on January 9, 1909 in Atlanta, IL; daughter of Berte and Ethel Green Leonard. She married Carl B Moore on August 3, 1939 in Grand Haven, MI; he preceded her in death on May 1, 1960. She was a grade school teacher for 38 years. She was a member of The United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Methodist Women, Illinois Retired Teacher Association, Book Club, and the Philanthropic Education Organization.
She is survived by one son: Charles L Moore of San Diego, CA: two grandchildren: Jacqueline Roecker of Naples, FL and Richard Roecker of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and daughter Margaret. (Click for more)

He was born October 5, 1928. An Associate Professor Emeritus, at Indiana University Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department, he retired in l992 after 37 years of teaching. He received an Associate degree from North Park College; Chicago, IL (1949); Bachelor’s (1951), Master’s (1954), and PhD (1970) degrees in Park and Recreation Administration from Indiana University School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation in Bloomington, IN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
